INTRODUCTION

Prior to any laser or aesthetic skin treatment, we will perform detailed consultation, a focused medical history, physical examination, informed consent form and patch test. The medical history will require full details on any medical conditions, allergies, or medications.
Patient must be 18 years old and over.
Any client who requires treatment and brings a child with them must also be accompanied by another adult to chaperone the child whilst the client is being treated. Failure to bring an adult chaperone with any child will result in the treatment being cancelled. No children under the age of 16 years must be left unattended within the clinic at any time.

CONSULTATION AND PATCH TEST

During the consultation time, you will be able to discuss your skin needs or any aesthetic procedure with our clinical specialist and receive pre-care and aftercare instructions, which you should carefully follow for your best interest.
We require taking deposit of £30 prior booking any consultation. This cost is always redeemable towards the treatment or product purchase at the clinic.
All patients must undergo a patch test prior to laser hair removal treatment. Normally, the patient must wait a minimum of 48 hours after skin patch test, to proceed with first laser treatment session.
The skin patch test is valid for 6 months unless circumstances change (tan, medications, pregnancy or medical conditions). If you are starting new medication, then we must to re-do a Patch Test again before your next session starts. You will understand that despite having a test patch, there is still a possibility that you may have an adverse reaction or side effect during any following treatments.
Any consultation, treatment or product cost can be paid by cash, any debit/credit card. We accept American Express cards as well.

LASER TREATMENTS

Before laser hair removal treatment we are legally required to perform a Patch Test. We cannot go ahead without it, even if client has had multiple treatments somewhere else.
If client attends vascular or pigmentation consultation and wishing to go ahead with the treatment, providing there is no contraindications at the time and practitioner strongly see no concerns, we can go ahead with the treatment immediately after laser consultation.
Before a patch test and initial consultation for laser hair removal, we ask to leave hair to grow at least a millimeter or two in length in the specific area where client wants to have it laser. There should be also a caution to be taken with the suntan - it is advisable to come for consultation and patch test at least 4 weeks after your recent active sun exposure and in some cases to wait up until your skin shows no sign of tan.
Medical lasers can potentially be harmful to the human eye Retina and to avoid this possibility, special safety goggles must be worn during the laser treatments.
The number and length of treatment sessions depends on the size of the treatment area, the success rate of the treatment, and the patient’s tolerance of the treatment.
Before ongoing laser hair removal sessions, you must follow preparation advise, such as avoid plucking, waxing or bleaching the hair for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment, shave the area to be treated the day or night before your appointment, avoid certain medication (you will need to check this with your practitioner).
After any laser treatment avoid very hot baths, showers, steam baths or saunas, and don’t swim in strong chlorinated water for two or three days. Don’t use bleaching creams or perfume products for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid exfoliating scrubs or skin peels for one week. Try to avoid wearing tight clothing for two or three days if you had laser hair removal on body areas. And if there are signs of infection like pus, tenderness, or burns, contact the clinic immediately. Post treatment skincare instructions must be followed to prevent any complications. Full list will be given at the clinic.

SIDE EFFECTS AFTER LASER PROCEDURE

All treatment procedures carry some level of risk, and results may vary from person to person and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
You should be fully aware of and understand the potential risk and side effects of the treatments which are rare and include but are not exclusive of: allergic reactions, skin sensitivity, skin irritation, prolonged redness, itchiness, swelling, pigmentation changes.
Some reaction is perfectly normal and there is nothing to worry about. Reaction such as redness and perifollicular oedema (small goose bumps) are very common if having laser hair removal, they can last up to 24 hours, in some cases longer.
Treatment on tanned patients (after recent active sun exposure) will be delayed until the tan fades. Risk of pigmentation alteration is significantly higher these patients. In the event of an active or severe sunburn, the procedure cannot go ahead. You will be expected to allow skin to fully heal before returning for your laser treatment.
The degree of the side effects varies, but some of the most common types are hyper pigmentation (darker discoloration of the skin), blisters, and mild burns. While most of these side effects are hardly more than a mild irritation, there is chance that some reactions can be worse.
Whilst you can discuss the potential risk of some medication being photosensitive, please discuss with your medication prescriber regarding the effects of your medication and safety of laser treatment.
For those patients with Fitzpatrick skin type IV or greater (Middle Eastern and Asian decent) there is a rare but significant risk of paradoxical hypertrichosis (conversion of vellus hairs to ticker, more obvious terminal hair) especially when treating face and jaw. Paradoxical hypertrichosis has a low incidence and most commonly occurs on face and neck in already treated areas or close to the treated area and on those who has underlying hormonal condition. It is unknown reason why that would happen, but in some cases, and only on selective skin types of individuals, laser can do opposite and stimulate hair growth. It is treated and gradually improved with further laser hair removal sessions of high fluence, increased cooling and stacking of pulses.
If in case of any side effect (including folliculitis, bruising, burning, blisters etc) occurs after any laser treatment, you should contact the clinic immediately for further advise and take photographs as evidence. You might be asked to come to clinic for a review or consulted by the phone or email. We ask for any concerns contact clinic directly without a delay.

MEDICATION

We are required that you disclose all medication that you are taking when determine if laser treatment is right option for you.
Medication can come with side-effects, including those that will make your skin more photosensitive. This means that your skin might react more negatively to change – such as laser hair removal.
If this is the case, you might want to think of ways to get around the issue. For example, switching to an alternative treatment. If that is not the case, we will wait certain time (your practitioner will discuss this with you) after you will stop using medication, and you can then safely return to have laser treatment.
Having discussion with your GP will help determine the right course of action for your needs.
Before any continuous session you will be asked to disclose any health and medication changes (we ask if any new medication is being taken since your last visit).
Avoid taking antihistamines directly before your vascular laser treatment. If you are taking antihistamines on a regular basis, you should stop taking these 5 – 7 days before your laser session is due. If you just take antihistamines on a once-off occasion, they should be avoided for 48 hours before your laser session is due.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF HAVING A LASER PROCEDURE

There are some health conditions that are widely considered to be contraindications to laser treatments. Among them are bleeding disorders, severe reactions to histamines, Vitiligo, Lupus, or Scleroderma. If you suffer from any of these conditions, you are not suitable for light-based medical laser treatment. If you suffer from Psoriasis, we are certified to treat this condition with Dermalux LED light therapy, however it is considered as contraindication for any other medical laser.
Implants, screws, plates, and peacemakers are not contraindicated, although pacemakers are only contraindicated if the laser energy combined with electric or magnetic impulses. Light is not known to harm objects enclosed in metal.
Hirsutism (Excessive Body Hair). Hirsutism can be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Such conditions are generally hormone related, e.g., polycystic ovarian syndrome. The first port of call for women, if you have excessive body hair that grows like men’s hair pattern (especially facial hair), should be to your General Practitioner, to discuss the problem and rule out any underlying health problems, which could be causing problems. There are a lot of factors that contribute (genetics, hormones). Laser hair removal can be a solution to help with this type of hair growth, however you should understand that there will be ongoing procedures due the active hormones that will regenerate some regrowth even whilst undergoing laser treatments.
Medical laser treatments can cause problems for those with active or chronic Herpes Simplex Virus (I or II) infections. Herpes and cold sores are treated as contagious skin diseases, and your practitioner must know before treatment if you suffer from such infection.
During laser treatments, the heat from the laser may cause flare-ups over areas that have previously had outbreaks. Patients will need to begin their prescription herpes medication approximately four-five days prior to their treatment. However, if a patient is having an active outbreak, they must reschedule and cannot go through with treatments at that time. Once the problem has disappeared, you should be able to undergo the procedure.
Laser can trigger cold sores after the session as well. If you occasionally tend to have cold sores and you are undergoing laser treatment, you can apply Acyclovir cream on the area for 4 days as soon as cold sore feels appearing.
Keloid scarring. If you have history of keloid scars, you may have an increased risk of scarring from laser treatments. You will need to check this with practitioner if you are suitable for laser treatments.
Radiation Therapy. Patients undergoing LLLT are not recommended to undergo laser treatments due to research that supports its effect on the immune system.
Pregnancy and breast feeding. Although there is no evidence to suggest that laser treatments are not safe for your unborn baby, it is generally not recommended. It is advisable that you wait until after you have had your child before considering the laser hair removal procedure.
Laser hair removal should generally be avoided while breastfeeding. Your hormones will likely cause changes to hair growth, meaning the procedure might not be as effective as you would like. Instead, wait until you have finished breastfeeding before starting laser hair removal. This will give your body chance to return to normal and ensure the effects are as good as they can be.
For these reasons, we do not treat pregnant or breast-feeding women with lasers as a precaution and we put treatment on hold during this time.

PAYMENTS AND REFUNDS

The payment is expected at the time of service. After completion of any single session service, you will be asked to pay in full.
We offer discounted packages for your own benefits. These packages must be prepaid in full or in flexible installments for you to get the benefits of discount.
Packages doesn't have expiration date and are non-refundable. If you wish to discontinue with the laser treatments that has been pre-paid, it is entirely your decision and remaining treatments can not be refunded.
In the event of Sale, the package discount price is calculated using the standard single treatment price and not pre-paid packages price (those are already reduced). Sale is for limited time only and it may be withdrawn or extended at any time.
Once sessions have been paid and started, the treatment fees are not refundable, as all fees paid are entirely in respect of the service provided, professional time, expertise, product costs and such costs are incurred independently of the results achieved. If client falls pregnant and undergoing laser treatment with prepaid package, we can keep their remaining sessions on hold until client can safely return to their treatment.

CANCELLATIONS AND LATE ARRIVAL

Clients allow to rearrange their appointments online up to 48-hours prior their appointment time. This includes all consultation, treatment, or review appointments.
Clients can cancel their appointment up to 72 hours prior their appointment time online.
If client fails to do so within these time frames, they wont be able to change it by themselves online anymore and must to contact clinic directly. Only clinical manager will be able to deal with the late rescheduling and this will incur in the fee for the late notice.
For any last - minute cancellation and No-Show to the appointment, client will be liable to pay a fee of £30 prior their next booked appointment.
If client is giving no sufficient notice or does not show to their pre-paid online consultation, this booking cost will be taken as the fee to recover lost clinical time.
Text and email appointment reminders are a clinic's courtesy service and cannot be relied upon. It is client’s responsibility to note their appointment in their own diary and attend at the appropriate time.
Derma Mind Laser Clinic will always do their best to accommodate your appointment time and date, however lateness may result in reduced treatment time, or possible forfeiting of that appointment.
Please arrive 5 min in advance of your appointment whenever possible.

We have a friend referral scheme for an existent client who may wish to recommend a friend. For every single new client send our way, we will issue a credit award to referee account.
We offer a Gift Vouchers for your friends and family. You can purchase them online or you can visit us at the clinic and our team will carefully pack a voucher for you. The recipient can then use their card for any procedure or product of their choice at the clinic. Gift Card is valid for 6 months from a purchase date.
