PROUDLY STOCKPORT-BASED CLINIC

Even though you diet, exercise, and getting enough sleep, so that you can look your best, the brown spots still appear on your hands, face and chest making you look older than you are – these are usually called hyperpigmentation lesions, lentigines, sunspots, liver or age spots.
These brown skin discolorations are typically flat, tan, brown, or black in color and flat. They appear on areas of the skin commonly exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, back of the hands, and décolletage. There is no age limit and especially at the younger age pigmentation is very common for individuals who spent prolonged time in the sun.
IMPORTANT: If you notice a sudden increase in age spots, particular spot changing color, texture and size, you must not delay and see dermatologist. We recommend to speak with doctor first and check the lesion is not cancerous before going ahead with any treatment.

Laser technology is reliable method of dark brown and localized hyper-pigmentation removal and in just one treatment can significantly lighten it.
At Derma Mind Laser Clinic, we use FDA approved medical grade Cynosure Elite laser and treat sporadic sunspots and age spots on: face, hands, arms, neck and décolletage.
During the treatment the laser light is absorbed by the excess pigment cells, and this shatters the pigment to the smaller pieces which then eliminated by the body’s natural elimination process. The changes will be seen as soon as a formed scab falls out and final results can be seen once skin is completely settles down which can take 4 - 6 weeks.
Pigment immediately after treatment will appear much darker and becomes dry and scabby. Healing process will start immediately and you will need to look after skin greatly: protect skin from UV radiation, wear sunblock at all times, apply Aloe Vera to soothe and calm skin post-procedure. Your therapist will give you a full list of after care advise which you will need adhere for skin's correct healing.
With laser we can treat Caucasian skin types I – III only, according to Fitzpatrick scale (very light skin types).
Skin type IV (Asian), V and VI is extremely high on risk to develop hypo-pigmentation in the treated area (an area of skin becoming lighter than the baseline skin color). Therefor we take a great care and advise these individuals to choose other treatment options such as lightening skin chemical peels, electrolysis pigment removal or topical skincare products with tyrosinase inhibitor for regular use at home.
LASER TREATMENT IS NOT SUITABLE to treat:
NOTE: The best time to have laser treatment is when the sun is least active: late autumn and winter. During summer time and throughout holiday season time we may choose other pigment lightening treatment instead.
Please book your time to see us. We will perform detailed consultation, discuss your unique needs and advise on the best treatment option for your skin.

Clinical & medical grade lightening peels is the another hyper-pigmentation lightening treatment option available. The treatment that includes chemical peel solution applied to the skin surface is used to tackle melanin over production and therefor to brighten, lighten and to even the overall skin tone. Combining the full range of chemical peels in a course is a great way to improve not only uneven skin tone but also a texture as well as treat dull, tired, aging skin in one application.
We prescribe Tyrosinase inhibitor products and the most advanced clinical sunblock for the further protection of hyper-pigmentation occurrence.
Lightening chemical peels ARE SUITABLE to treat and reduce:
NOTE: We take great care when performing chemical peels throughout summer months and before sunny holidays. You will need to leave at least 2-3 weeks post-peel before going to expose your skin to the active sun. Skin also must be tan-free (including fake tan products). Sunblock must be applied on the treated area at all times.
If you are thinking about peel treatments, the best is to book general pigmentation consultation and speak to us about the best suitable treatments for you.

Diathermy is extremely precise high-frequency electrical current treatment used to remove benign pigmentation like dark brown age spots, sun spots, and seborrheic keratosis pigmented lesions anywhere on the body.
A fine probe heats and destroys targeted cells, causing them to dry up, scab, and peel off, usually in only 1-2 sessions. Skin after treatment will be temporary red and scabbing will occur. Treated pigmented spot will change color immediately and can be seen as dark grey or greyish - whitening color which then becomes dry and scab will form. Skin will need to be looked after post-treatment with correct after care which your therapist will provide straight after treatment.
Results will be seen when the dry scab falls off but skin will continue healing process until new fresh skin grows back. It can take between 4 to several weeks. Sunblock must to be applied on the treated area at all times.
Skin must be strictly tan-free and no sunny holidays or UV exposure must be planned after this treatment. Conscious to be taken in summer months: to avoid active sun exposure, the best time to treat skin by diathermy is autumn and winter.
If you are thinking about electrolysis treatment but are not sure, the best is to book general pigmentation consultation and speak to us about the treatment and we will be able to advise what is the best option for your skin.
