Even though you diet, exercise, and getting enough sleep, so that you can look your best, the brown spots still appear on your hands, face and chest making you look older than you are – these are usually called hyperpigmentation lesions, lentigines, sunspots, liver or age spots.
These brown skin discolorations are typically flat, tan, brown, or black in color and flat. They appear on areas of the skin commonly exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, back of the hands, and décolletage. There is no age limit and especially at the younger age pigmentation is very common for individuals who spent prolonged time in the sun.
In adults, especially older than 50, we commonly see darker pigmented spots on face and hands and sometimes call it age spots. They occur especially in people with red/light hair and pale skin. Age spots occur due to excessive production of melanin, pigment which results from overexposure to UV rays from the sunlight, but they can also result from the use of commercial tanning lamps and tanning beds in a younger age. Age spots, same as sun spots, can be lightened by medical laser or chemical peel treatments.
IMPORTANT: We do recommend consulting the dermatologist prior laser treatment. In order to get the right diagnosis, you may require to do lab test and then follow further doctor's recommendations. If you notice a sudden increase in age spots, particular spot changing color and size, you must not delay and see dermatologist.
Laser technology is the most reliable method of brown localized hyper-pigmentation removal. In Derma Mind Laser clinic, we use FDA approved medical grade Cynosure Elite laser and can lighten sunspots and age spots on face, hands, wrists, arms, neck and décolletage.
Laser Treatment IS NOT SUITABLE to treat:
Laser pigmentation removal helps to improve the overall look and texture of the skin and reduce the need to use make-up. In the ideal way the darker is the pigment and the fairer is skin - the better results can be achieved. During the treatment the laser light is absorbed by the excess pigment cells, and this shatters the pigment to the smaller pieces which then eliminated by the body’s natural elimination process.
IMPORTANT: For Alexandrite laser safely treat dark spots, we can treat individuals with skin types I – III only, according to Fitzpatrick scale (very light skin types).
Skin type IV (Asian), V and VI is extremely high on risk to develop hypo-pigmentation in the treated area (an area of skin becoming lighter than the baseline skin color). Therefor we take a great care and advise these individuals to choose alternative treatment options such as lightening skin chemical peels and specific skincare ingredients such as tyrosinase inhibitor for regular use at home.
Please book your time to see us. We will perform detailed explanation prior treatment.
Clinical & medical grade lightening peels is the another hyper-pigmentation lightening treatment option available. The treatment that includes chemical peel solution applied to the skin surface is used to tackle melanin over production and therefor to brighten, lighten and to even the overall skin tone. Combining the full range of chemical peels in a course is a great way to improve not only uneven skin tone but also a texture as well as treat dull, tired, aging skin in one application.
We prescribe Tyrosinase inhibitor products and the most advanced clinical sunblock for the further protection of hyper-pigmentation occurrence.
